audio: the very edge

Recorded May 15, 2009 on ninbot.com. This has a sort of vaguely Weather Report-ish feel but definitely a lot more loose than those guys would play. I’m digging the looseness of it and trying to keep it feeling like it’s just barely hanging on. Hence a lot of unexpected accents and upbeats and stuff. A sort of development of a couple rhythmic ideas like some 70’s Miles Davis tunes used.

There’s some nice stuff there!
I find it pitty it’s still audible that the bass is done with a wind instrument. Even if you would have overlayed the track with some other wind instruments like a sax, I (former bassist) could easily notice some of the faster notes on the bass didn’t sound very realistic.
Perhaps it may not have much to do with the playingstyle, but with the instrument used though…
But anyways, you could make something great from this, if you’d do some brass trax on the background!
