video: Little Sunflower (EWI)
Whee, 100th post! Here’s another EWI video for ya. I guess you can tell how I’ve been spending my practice time lately.
My goal was to find out how expressive the EWI/Aria can be in a tune with a lot of held notes. I tried to create a lot of crescendos and decrescendos on the held notes, and use vibrato musically.
Only on the last A section on the head out did I think of playing a harmony part–I wish I had done the brass part in harmony instead of unison through the whole tune. Ah well, arrangement with the camera rolling.
The backing track is prerecorded (Aebersold) but I’m playing the Rhodes, I ditched the clunky piano track it came with. The tasty phase shifter is from Togu Audio Line, who make truly outstanding free VST plugins that everyone should have.
