video: soulful machine

This is the first Youtube I’ve done in widescreen format–let’s see how this works out.

My video embed code for the blog will need to be updated, but in the meantime:

This is just another loop jam thing. I didn’t spend any time on the music, but I developed a whole new video editing workflow to get this. Youtube is now soliciting higher resolution uploads, so this is the biggest file I’ve even sent them–almost 140 MB for a 4 minute jam. The uncompressed render was well over a gigabyte, so compression ratio worked out about 55:1 as I recall.

The embedded player is still not doing stereo, grrr. The fmt=18 hack is no help on the embedded player.

  2. It’s a big improvement over the narrowscreen a.k.a “you got fat hands” format.

  5. Youtube basically cuts out the audio frequencies at 24 or 32khz. (that’s between 12 and 16Khz standard audio frequency).
You could send a high quality video, where the audio is slightly boosted over Low Quality, but I think it still retains the standard video size or quality.
That way you’d have same audio as HD, while the video is smaller.
